The SOFIMUN '2009 conference for young
leaders turned up to be one of the major
international events in Bulgaria in 2009.
The conference gathered young specialists
and professionals from all over the world.
Apart from this the conference was honored
by many dignatories - ambassadors,
ministers, vice-ministers, directors of
organizations and companies. The
participants had Q&A sessions with specially
selected guest speakers and specialists in
the fields of the topics that were discussed
and worked on during the 1 week in the
beautiful city of Sofia. The current movie
clip was the promo video for the 2009 event
which was aired before the conference by a
couple of televisions and was broadcasted
online via Youtube and through other
websites. The SOFIMUN 2009 conference had
more than 1000 applicants from all over the
world but had limited places. The selection
procedure was carried out by a certified
team of recruitment managers and the
mechanism was transparent in its full
extent. The SOFIMUN initiative will continue
to bring young leaders - perspective future
world leaders to debate and sit around the
"table for discussions".

Dear friends,
It is my great pleasure to welcome you at the
official website of the SOFIMUN International
Foundation.
The SOFIMUN Foundation was founded in 2008 to
promote the goals and aims of the United Nations,
to help young people educate in the sphere of the
United Nations, European Union and other
international organizations, to mediate in the
participation of the youth in global matters. The
SOFIMUN Foundation is established by a group of
young professionals after the successful
conclusion of the very first international Model
United Nations conference in July 2008 in Sofia,
Bulgaria.
The SOFIMUN Foundation’s team is dedicated to
ensure a better education, understanding,
intercultural dialogue and perspectives for the
young people. We do this through organizing
various projects and events, working with
different organizations, going on study trips and
cooperation with partners and friends. So far, the
SOFIMUN Foundation has organized, supported and
helped in the organization of several
international events and has an extended network
of partners from all parts of the world. Some of
our most popular projects are the Sofia
International Model United Nations conference
(held annually in July), the I-MUN portal, the SNN
news portal, the campaign in Bulgarian and among
the MUN events for the establishment of an UN
Parliamentary Assembly. Our projects help people
to gain and develop skills and education in
various fields – international relations, world
organizations, politics, human rights, security,
environmentalism, economy, education, journalism.
The team of SOFIMUN consists of professionals from
different nationalities and backgrounds all
together aiming to facilitate the dialogue and
cooperating between the young people.
For its relatively short period of existence, the
SOFIMUN Foundation has become a powerful
ambassador of young professionals all over the
world with its hard work, professionalism,
creativeness and profound thinking. Created by
young professionals for young professionals, the
SOFIMUN Foundation has proven to be a place for
every creative and open minded person, who wishes
to gain and extend knowledge on various global
issues as well as to be part of them. SOFIMUN
keeps developing successfully in different fields
and keeps on supporting and implementing
initiatives of young perspective persons.
The SOFIMUN Foundation aim at building bridges
between nations and perspective people in a
dynamic way by influencing them to cooperate and
work together upon issues that are part of the
world challenges of tomorrow. We do believe that
such a goal is and has to be a value of today’s
young people.
